destroyerofjudas This is GIGANTIC! You can hear hints of a lot of bands in this. Melvins, Mutoid Man, Godflesh, Helmet. But yet, they're not "ripping off" any of those bands. This is wholly original.

Just give er a listen. Favorite track: Cal.

JoopKonraad ... Where the shivering of glee and ecstasy continues, for it seems Museum of Light have found an amazing recipe for making a surging, swelling and crashing album that not only gives you light where needed but also manages to make the dark something you want to embrace. Theres a wonderful balance here. ...

Nerve Salad Melodic alt-stoner of the highest caliber. This is an album to be listened to all the way through as one cohesive moment in time.
Play this loud and it truly shines.
If Seattle keeps this up, we better strap ourselves in.
Brilliant, relaxing, and imposing, this album fits all safe and snug in my Best Of The Year list with no trouble at all.

about

Museum of Light's debut record, Horizon, pulls between two poles: big, crushing, overwhelmingly heavy riffs and dreamy, Zen-like washes of ambience and found sound. Horizon is a lush, dense, and cinematic record, but without the self-seriousness and lack of restraint that underscores many other releases within the genre. In a time where there are truly no restrictions to music, both in content and approach, the addition by subtraction philosophy brings a different type of gravity to the listening experience. The challenge of exercising restraint and employing elements of simplicity makes every moment of Horizon meaningful -- there is not a wasted note nor an expendable moment.
